The way that Uncle had stated it is that this was a fresh start for him after everything that's happened. That's not really a chance that he could refuse, not when gaining an acceptance to the Speedwagon Academy involved Uncle's help, who was also one of the student counselors. He'd been assured that his academic achievements really are what helped, but honestly Adrian suspects that it doesn't hurt with Uncle's insistence and the money to the name Ţepeş.

He might have just wasted his time anyway if he didn't try to move on, to do something with himself. So he's trying. Trying to do better, to be someone worthy to help others. It's a silly, romantic notion, but he does want to be that kind of person to another. A prince, Adrian thinks wryly. Maybe that's childish, but it's a nice thought.

The first person to really engage with Adrian in a conversation is one Kakyoin Noriaki, a Japanese student who had transferred over. He's intelligent, well loved by the teachers, and admired by many other fellow students for his achievements. Yet, his interactions are genuine, almost peaceful. He'd be a good friend to have, Adrian thinks.

It's a lunch break and he's departed from Kakyoin for the moment when his other more familiar friends approach, deciding he didn't want to intrude with the excuse of exploring more of the school for himself. In his hand, Adrian has a packet he's drinking out of. His has a unique diet, thus has a specialized medicine and meal alike to address his medical needs. A rare kind of anemia, he thinks distantly, not questioning the heavy taste on his tongue. Uncle has been giving it to him for ages now.

Then he sees it. A quaint garden, with several roses. It's a lovely area, but it doesn't seem like anyone else is here, which strikes him as odd.
