[To Cornelia's credit, she did try to make sure that Dedue was sent away prior to His Majesty's murder and Dimitri being wrongfully accused for it. However, he had his own plotting to do, and would assuredly do anything to protect Dimitri, even if it meant fighting men of the Kingdom. Thankfully, he is not on his own, his brethren of Duscur agreeing to his request and coming to his aid, drawing the attention of Faerghus knights while Dedue infiltrates the castle dungeons. Strictly, he has said to them to not risk their own lives, but he cannot control what they choose to do. Quietly, Dedue hopes they will have the sense to protect their own lives instead of losing it.

After shifting the weight of his pack on his shoulder, Dedue marches down the steps, knowing precisely where he must go. The guard is startled to see Dedue, then approaches to stop him. Without hesitation, Dedue swings his axe, breaching armor and gutting him. The man, at least, dies a quick death, and Dedue does hope he rests with his Goddess.
