[It was a half-truth when he told everyone that his Duscur brothers saved from after rescuing Dimitri. But then, where was the point of revealing everything when there was so much at stake? That he'd spent four years under knives and needles, at the hands of the same people that killed Jeralt? The same people that stand with Edelgard?
When he did escape, that was indeed when his kin found him, nursed him back to health. From there, when he was able to move on his own, that was when he left to find Dimitri and the rest of the Faerghus army at the Great Bridge of Myrddin. And indeed, they were successful in fighting back the Imperial Army.
He didn't expect his pulse to be so invigorated during battle. That something horrible was inside of him, screaming to lash out. Dedue had been so used to his own self-control that this is unprecedented and strange. He has no doubt it has something to do with whatever was done to him, but who can afford to stop and examine it all during a war? Being at Dimitri's side and ensuring his victory is far more important.
But then it happens. Somewhere, along the way on the battlefield during another fight, they end up separated from the rest of the army. There are too many enemies, his blood pounds in his ears, and something triggers deep inside of his heart. The transformation that takes place is not complete, jagged fangs lining one side of his mouth and claws on his hands. Perfect tools for destruction, perfect for protecting his future king.
It is a massacre as he rips through armor and flesh alike to get to Dimitri.]
